AWARDS JUDGE

International Broadcasting Convention Accelerator Programme

Nadine is a judge for The IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme. It was launched in 2019, to support the media and entertainment industry with a framework for agile, collaborative and fast-track innovation through a multi-company project-based approach to solving complex media and entertainment business and technology challenges.

All 2022 project solutions were explored and achieved within a short sprint (of just a few months) in the run-up to IBC’s Show in Amsterdam in September 2022, where all results were showcased project by project at the Accelerator Zone, and as live, final showcase sessions on IBC’s Innovation Stage.

The Accelerator Project of the Year Award 2022 was presented in February 2023 to the ‘5G Remote Production… in the middle of nowhere’ team. This coincided with the IBC2023 Accelerators Kickstart Day, aimed at broadcasters, platforms, studios and key media & technology vendors, held at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in London.

The cutting-edge project, developed by the University of Strathclyde, proved the portability of a flexible, private 5G ‘network in a box’ for live broadcast production use cases, for untethered broadcast production in real world scenes. The 2022 winning team showcased its live use case at the IBC show in September, demonstrating how they used extremely remote geographical locations as their setting, including Kenya, New Zealand, Southern Ireland and the highlands of Scotland. It was also used as part of the live coverage of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s final departure from Scotland on 13 September 2022.

The project was championed by BBC, BT Sport, BT Media & Broadcast, RTÈ, TV2, Olympic Broadcasting Services, Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, University of Strathclyde, Scotland 5G Centre, and Neutral Wireless.

The Business Book Awards

Nadine is a founding judge of The Business Book Awards. These awards celebrate the quality and variety of business books in the market. They offer industry-wide recognition to new and established authors writing on a range of subjects for a diverse readership, with no barriers to entry.

Now in its sixth successful year, the awards were founded by Lucy McCarraher, Publisher of Rethink Press, in partnership with Pathway Group. We welcome entries from UK publishers and authors for all categories; and from authors living or published overseas in the International category.

The Business Book Awards gives every author, regardless of their experience or route to publishing, the opportunity to participate in a high quality, impartial judging process. They allow all authors that enter, are short-listed or win to publicise and sell more books; and shortlisted and winning authors to gain recognition and more business.

Young Enterprise

Nadine is a judge for Young Enterprise in The Chilterns.

The UK faces a serious skills gap. A high percentage of young people are not in education or employment, and many leave school without the skills they need to succeed in the real world. We work with schools, universities, businesses and influencers to help change this.

The Young Enterprise partnership of teachers, volunteers, supporters and staff reaches 482,000+ young people across the UK, helping them to develop their business, financial and entrepreneurial capabilities. Our vision is for every young person to have the opportunity to learn the vital skills and enterprising mindset needed to earn and look after their money and make a positive contribution to their community.
